Provision of all track renewal services to support full refurbishment of Selby Swing Bridge.

  • Removed existing p-way and hardwood waybeams
  • Installed a combination of VIPA and VANGUARD baseplates
  • Installed bespoke Scarf rail joints
  • Zero reportable accidents
  • Project delivered on programme

Project summary

1stInrail Ltd worked in collaboration with Kier Rail and Network Rail to refurbish the swing bridge at Selby. This critical piece of infrastructure was refurbished over a six-week blockade during the school holidays.

The works included…

  • Removal the existing waybeams
  • Removal of the original swing mechanism
  • Supply and installation of new rail holding down systems (VIPA & VANGUARD)
  • Commissioning of the new track system into service

The works were delivered on time and in accordance with the Network Rail budget and with no reportable accidents.
