Alan Maye

A 28-year veteran of the rail industry, Alan holds the position of Director – London and, alongside our MD, Stephen Jackson, co-founded 1st Inrail back in 2007.

Responsible for the company’s London-based activities, Alan directs the firm’s Southern office, ensuring the safe and efficient delivery of all works carried out for Transport for London as well as delivering a range of ad hoc projects, predominantly within the M25.

A highly motivated director and man manager, he brings a wealth of project delivery experience to the table, holding ultimate responsibility for the safe, compliant and profitable delivery of the company’s Southern-based projects. From track renewals and major upgrades to maintenance and engineering projects, Alan works alongside TfL and others to deliver ambitious, wide ranging and safety critical works across a broad spectrum of railway engineering.

Key responsibilities

  • Ensuring safe, effective and professional delivery of works undertaken through our London office on the TfL, DLR and London Overground networks and that they are completed in accordance with the relevant standards and requirements
  • Development of new workstreams, together with the control and ongoing management of existing clients within the London area
  • Responsible for the management of the 1stinrail fleet of 120 plus vehicles, including our heavy goods vehicles and ever-expanding fleet of electric vehicles
  • Responsible for the technical competence and management of the safety critical personal working through our London office, including TfL handback (TOO2/TOO3) and protection personnel
