Based out of our Doncaster office and responsible for the company’s operations throughout the UK, Rob’s unquestionable work ethic and keen eye for detail make him an asset to the company, his friendly and approachable nature helping foster strong and long-lasting relationships with both clients and colleagues alike.

Starting his career in 2000 as a Trainee Quantity Surveyor for a major rail contractor, Rob became a fully qualified QS in 2005, rising to the position of Commercial Manager in 2012 before making the move to 1st Inrail just one year later.

During the past 9 years he has had an increasing influence over the 1stinrail Operations department, becoming our Operations Manager and then in early 2022 accepting the post of Operations Director.

His hardworking and astute approach, together with a resolute commitment to driving improvements in performance, helps ensure that service levels continue to rise, with opportunities for the business and workforce alike developing as a result.

Key responsibilities

  • Ensuring the safe, effective, and professional delivery of 1stinrail works undertaken throughout the UK, guaranteeing completion in accordance with the relevant standards and requirements
  • Development of new workstreams, together with the control and ongoing overview of existing relationships and clients
  • Responsible for the technical competence, capability and management of the Operations and Maintenance workforce
  • Responsible for the rack Inspection/Patrolling and maintenance department, currently responsible for approx. 50 depots throughout the UK
  • Responsible for the Signalling department
